You all think you know him--such a
kind and caring man,
so outgoing, he is the life of any party.
He would give away the shirt on his back.
Yes, this is how you think.
But, to you, the darker side he has never shown.
For if he did, you would surely be appalled.
Come... let me show you.
Here he is... a family man:
Out going, sensitive to the needs of the world around him;
he gives of his time and gives of his money
to those who are less fortunate than he.
There is nothing he wouldn't do to touch his fellow man.
But wait.
There is more to see than what meets the naked eye!
Within the doors of "Home Sweet Home",
you can hear the battle rage.
There is taunting and impatience... yelling and screaming,
verbal assaults... physical assaults... mocking and scorn.
Those living within are made to feel of little significance.
Leaving bruises and scars within the ones he claims to love,
even time itself may never heal their souls.
The objects of his tirades have sought release from the prison walls,
but he isn’t finished with them yet.
Abandoning his own, he has found another.
Time is spent with feeding greed and self pleasures,
while his flesh and blood sit on the wayside
suffering from the wounds they bear.
This is the man most think they know,
but live not within these walls.
How can these things be?
Is there no conscience?
Who will finally see the truth of this reality?
Yes... we all have a darker side within
and upon it we must hold a heavy reign.
For when this side is once released,
we begin a path of utter destruction
that not only hurts the lives of those around us,
but also the person we might have been.
