Lady Care is proud to present the
artwork of Jonathon Bowser. Since childhood, Jonathon has been moved and inspired by the beauty of the natural world: misty forest cathedrals, mountain fortresses, cascading rivers, magical wildlife, and the sublime human figure resonating among these divine gifts. Many people are surprised to discover that he works in two distinct genres - Landscape and Figurative - but Jonathon views these complimentary forms of expression as intimately related; each bestows context, and therefore meaning, to the other. Watercolour landscapes acquaint the public with the grandeur of the Alberta high-country, sharing with them the spectacular vistas of the remote mountain wilderness known only to hikers and backpackers. In his figurative oil paintings,
Jonathon takes his reverence of nature a step further, developing what he
describes as Mythic Naturalism. In these dreamscapes, the human figure might symbolize the history and evolution of civilisation, the human relation to the earth and cosmos, the forces of nature, or even the Transcendent Divinity that initiates and sustains all of these things. These images endeavour to communicate - with mythological symbols (structures of human consciousness, and therefore, the universal language of the unconscious mind) - some meaning of the interrelation and connection between humanity and nature, heaven and earth, Creator and creation. In particular, he explores the
iconography of the Divine Feminine - the Mother of the order manifest in
the forces of Nature, and the Principle of Creation and Regeneration upon
which all that exists is predicated. Jonathon, in his quest for
spirituality through creativity, considers his images part of an evolving
philosophy regarding the Transcendence of Beauty. Jonathon's life is about creativity. Possessed by a desire to know and understand, he also seeks to integrate his philosophy into his other creative passions: musical composition and writing. Order & Chaos - The Illusion of Duality - an eclectic and reverential collection of illustrated essays - should be ready for publication soon. And he has recently been commissioned to do a large series of paintings on Native American mythology by The Bradford Exchange - the worlds largest trading center for collectable plates. Look for them soon, in a newspaper near you. Determined to grow as an artist and creative thinker, Jonathon seems certain to find even more success in the art world.
