My Mother's Heart

Whenever I feel the need to empty my soul
Of all my pain, troubles and loneliness
I know there is one person who will open her heart
In hopes that she can carry some of the weight for me
On days where the light of the sun
Can't seem to find me
Her loving hand catches a ray of the golden light
And she wraps me in its comforting warmth

During times when I'm feeling weak and afraid
She reaches into my soul and pulls out my strength
When I feel I am all alone in the world
A smile from her face, a loving embrace
Are all that I need to quiet my insecurities

Her eyes and face lined with concern
From years of love that I dared to test
I am amazed at the fearlessness she portrays
There is no person stronger, no love this immense
Than a love from a mother
To a daughter and best friend
