The vows exchanged were
for better or worse,
As she now looks back, was it actually a curse.
At first being treated with warm tenderness,
Yet over time she sees less and less.
Slowly changing, becoming
hard to satisfy,
Upset without cause, she just sits and cries.
The brutality of it all, she is stunned,
That first hard slap delivered by her loved one.
How could this be, as she
trys to cover up,
The blows are powerful, she wimpers like a pup.
A onesided fist fight is what it is,
She cowering, the advantage is all his.
The stage is set for a too
common routine,
A life of abuse that was once serene.
Worrying constantly, what’s lying ahead,
Afraid to leave, to stay she so dreads!

Special Note:
When we marry, we believe it is forever. Suddenly the wonderful person
we thought we had married turns into a monster. We find it difficult to
understand what has happened. And we always turn it back on ourselves.
"It must be my fault he's like this", "If I would have
done it differently, this wouldn't have happened", "I've
got to do better", "I must try harder".
These are the lies that we are told and what we now believe...but it's
a lie. It's not your fault that he hits you..it's his fault.
If you are planning on leaving,
please do not forget to sign our guestbook.
