The following poem was written by
Marvin Caldwell. He offers great insight into the life of an
abused woman.

Changed Lives
So many stories are lived untold
Of lives in misery that once shined like gold
Where changes came without a clue
Of what a woman would be put through
Verbal abuse is alone more than plenty
Usually the woman doesn’t deserve any
Yet it often gets worse as time goes by
Living in fear but they continually try
Trying to understand being treated this way
It wasn’t like that on wedding day
What went wrong? She can’t comprehend
Her husband now seems a different man!
Somehow they fail, never seeing the light
Their situation unbearable, a serious plight
Afraid to tell others the life they endure
Even ashamed, understandable for sure
Without the truth they cannot advance
To reach out, accepting another chance
To live their lives as God had planned
Living life harmoniously, treated equal by her man!
