The following poem was written by Marvin Caldwell. He offers great insight into the effect of wife abuse on children.

Childen and Domestic
Violence

I watch the children walking up the street
On their way to school, the scene is so sweet
Innocence at its best with no cares
Each smiling, showing off the clothes they wear.

We see the happiness the children portray
Are they only happy when daddy is away?
Knowing they're safe which they soon learned
Yet at days end the fear will return

What do children experience seeing mom being hit
Their emotions critically altered, this picture doesn’t fit
No child should ever see this take place
They need attention, they need embraced

Women act embarrassed if others learn their man’s an abuser,
Hoping it’ll get better while sticking up for the loser
But it seldom does as the statistics now show
At the next confrontation she’ll suffer another blow!

Special Note:
We believe that what is happening will not affect the chidldren but it does. By staying you are raising the next generation of abusers and abuse victims. Your sons will become abusers and your daughters will become victims of abuse Why? Because that is what they've seen as a role model for marriage.
I know this isn't what you want...so get out and get yourself and them some help.
