My
Views on Prayer
Why post my views on prayers? There is
a good explanation for that. I get tons of requests for
prayers and I don't mind praying for others.
I believe
that we are suppose to pray for others but I don't always
agree with the way people want me to pray though.
I
believe that the only prayers that will matter will be the
ones that we pray and ask that God's will be done for others.
Whatever His will is - I don't know, so I always pray and ask
that His will be done for that person.
I know first
hand that praying for specific reasons and requests won't
work. On November 21, 1998, when my father was laying in a
hospital bed and they had not given us much hope that he would
make it, I prayed that he would make it. I was hurting and I
didn't want to loose my father, so I prayed really hard that
God would let him stay with us longer.
Then I realized
I was not praying in the correct manner. I was praying for
myself and not for God's will for my father. So I added
another prayer to God. I asked that if He wanted my father,
then could God take him quietly, with no pain and make his
departure a good one.
I didn't get my first prayer as
I was praying for myself and not what God's plan was. But when
I changed my prayer to include God's plan, I did get my second
prayer answered. God took my father, but He took him very
quietly, with no pain and my Dad left earth to go to Heaven
with a smile on his face.
So now when people ask me to
pray, that is how I pray. I pray that God's will be done for
them. I ask that whatever His plan is, that it be done nicely.
I sometimes still ask for selfish things like to heal a person
or to help them make it through rough times, but I know in my
heart that the only prayer that He will answer, will be
whatever His will is.
So if you want me to pray for
someone, please ask me to pray only for God's will, because it
seems that is the only prayers He answers. But I'll always
pray for others, so please ask me to pray if you need it.

Why
Should You pray? I guess the answer to that one is simple -
praying works. There are so many people in need everyday of
prayers. Life today isn't easy and there is only so much we
can physically do for others....but we can always pray. That
doesn't cost a thing....and it does work. Read some of the
poems on prayers and see what I mean. Praying for others also
shows you care and caring for others is a big part of who we
are and who we become...so please pray for those in need of
prayers.

The Praying Heart
The heart that prays
soars high on strong, glad wings, And finds strange
rest beyond the strife of things, The heart that
prays in trusting self-surrender Finds Christ's own
peace and life's eternal splendor. Through prayer GOd
breathes His secret to the heart, Speak to Him often
in the busy mart, Or call Him in the deep of sorrow's
night; His love floods in with the healing, guiding
light.

Prayers Can't Be Answered Unless They Are
Prayerd
Life without purpose is barren indeed
- There can't be a harvest unless you plant
seed, There can't be attainment unless there's a
goal, And man's but a robot unless there's a
soul.... If we send no ships out, no ships will come
in, And unless three's a contest, nobody can
win, For games can't be won unless they are
played, And PRAYERS can't be ANSWERED unless they are
PRAYED....
So whatever is wrong with your life
today, You'll find a solution if you kneel down and
pray Not just for pleasure, enjoyment and
health, Not just for honors and prestige and
wealth,
But PRAY FOR A PURPOSE to MAKE LIFE WORTH
LIVING, And PRAY FOR THE JOY of UNSELFISH
GIVING, For GREAT IS YOUR GLADNESS and RICH YOUR
REWARD When you make your LIFE'S PURPOSE the choice
of the Lord!

The Lord's Prayer
"After this manner
therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in
heaven, Hallowed by thy name. Thy kindom come.
Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us
our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine
is the kingdom, and the power, and the glor, for
ever. Amen" (Matthew
6:9-13)

Can I Say the Lord's Prayer?
I cannot say
"Our", if I live in a watertight spiritual
compartment; if I think a special place
in Heaven is reserved for my
denomination.
I cannot say "Father", if I do not
demonstrate the realtionship in my daily
life.
I cannot say "Which are in Heaven", if I
am so occupied with earth that I am not laying up
treasure over there.
I cannot say, "Hallowed be
they name", if I, who am called by His name, am not
holy
I cannot say "Thy will be done", if I am
questioning resentful, or disobedient to His
will for me.
I cannot say "Give us this day our
daily bread,", if I am living on past
experiences.
I cannot say "Forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors", if I harbor a
grudge against anyone.
I cannot say "Lead us
not into temptation", if I deliberately place myself
or remain in a position where I am likey to be
tempted.
I cannot say, "Deliver us from evil", if
I am not prepared to fight it in a spiritual realm
with the weapon of prayer.
I cannot say,
"Thine is the Kingdom", if I don't give the King the
disciplined obedience of a loyal subject.
I
cannot say "Thine is the ...glory", if I am seeking
glory for myself.
I cannot say "Forever", if my
horizons are bound of things of time.
I cannot
say "Amen", if I do not also add, "Cost what it may",
for to say this prayer honestly...will cost
everything.

THE BIG QUESTION by Glen Miller
The highest
privilegeever afforded man is the privilege of
payer, the right to talk to the highest pontenate in
all the universe! Then why don't you pray?
The
most poweful force accesible to man is the potential
of prayer! Then why don't you pray?
The
sweetest moments a man can spend are those spent
with the Lord in prayer! Then why don't you
pray?
The greatest
longing of the heart of God is to talk to His
children! Then why don't you pray?
Nothing is
impossible to those who pray! Then why don't you
pray?
Every sin is forgiven, every stain washed
clean, all gult diminished to the man who
prays! Why then don't you pray?
Hell moves
farther away. Satan flees from the man who
prays! Then why, oh, why don't you
pray?
Heaven comes closer, the glory grows
brighter, the hope grows more real to the one who
prays! Oh, why don't you pray?
Answers will
come, mountains will be moved, valleys made smooth,
rivers made crossable, the inaccessible made
accesible, the impossible made possible, dreams come
true to the person who prays! Then why don't you
pray?
Jesus said that men ought always to
pray! Then why don't you pray?
Paul encouraged
prayer without ceasing! Then why don't you
pray?
The riches of heaven are opened to those
who pray in His name!" Then why don't you
pray?
Everyone can pray, the young, the old,
the rich, the poor, the strong, the weak, the child,
the aged, the shut-in, the prisoner. In any
nation, in any language all can pray! Then why don't
you pray?

Prayer - The
Highest Form of Communication
Prayer ascends as
incense before God." And another angel came and stood
at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was
given unto him much incense, that he should offer it
with the prayers of all saints upon the golden alter
which was before the throne. And the smoke of the
incense, which came with the prayers of the saints,
ascended up before God out of the angel's
hand." (Revelation 8:3, 4)

INTO THE PRESENCE OF GOD. PRAY BECAUSE
THERE IS POWER IN PRAYER. PRAY BECAUSE PRAYER PUT THE
MIGHTY PROMISES OF GOD TO WORK FOR US. PRAY
BECAUSE PRAYER BRINGS JOY INTO OUR LIVES. PRAY
BECAUSE PRAYER RELEASES OUR THOUGHTS, UNLOADS OUR
BURDENS, LIFTS UP OUR SPIRITS, AND ALLOWS US TO BREAK
FORTH IN PRAISE.
"I will bless the Lord at
all times, His praise shall continually be in my
mouth"(Psalms 34:1).

world-renowned author, panelist, radio and camp
meeting speaker. For twenty-five years, Dr. Ward
served as minister for the International Revivaltime
program, the radio voice of the Assemblies of God.
He and his wife, Dorothy, make their home in
California, but Dr.Ward travels throughout the world
ministering in churches, camp meetings and on
television programs. The following are some of his
quotes on prayer:
"Miracle does not work that
way. It is clothed in gentleness and humility. It is
strength that is neither demanding or ruthless. It
is the true warrior-overcomer. There is nothing
tyrannical. It is persuasive. Prayer yearns. Prayer
wraps arms of love around its object. There is no
fury to prayer. It does not yell or screech. It
reaches toward need. "
"Prayer does not impose
burdens. It lifts burdens. Prayer gets under. It is a
new ideal of manliness. I am no longer AGAINST. I am
for."
"Prayer produces patience. It is not my
business to clear the way. It is my duty to accept
His judgement. Prayer leads me to Jesus. He shall
"bring forth judgement", not me."
"Prayer
brings us to the confidence that our measurement of
strength is our capacity for endurance."
"I was
to pray and not to faint (quit). I must not hang up.
I must listen. I must not inquire if I am not willing
to hear. must learn that God moves silently. Answers
are not accompanied by a firecracker display. God
does not take to the streets. He works majestically
behind the scences."

PRAYER, PRESONAL
POWER AND THE HYDROGEN BOMB
Dr. Alexis
Carrell is a medical doctor who won a Nobel Prize in
physiology. He wrote:
"Prayer is the most
powerful form of energy that one can generage.
The influence of prayer on the human mind and
body is demonstarable as the secreting lands. Its
results can be measured in terms of increased
boyancy, greater intellectual vigor, moral stamina
and a deeper understanding of human
relationships. Prayer is indispensible to the
fullest development of personality. Only in prayer
do we achieve that complete harmonious asemblly of
mind, body and spirit, which gives the frail human
reed its unshakable strenght" WHEN WE PRAY, WE
LINK OURSELVES WITH THE INEXHAUSTIBLE
MOTIVE POWER THAT SPINS THE UNIVERSE!

unto the Lord in their trouble and He saved them out of
their
distress"(Psalms107:19)

"He brought me up
also out of a horrible put, out of the miry clay and set
my feet upon a rock and established my goings and He put
a new song in my mouth, even praises to our God. Many
shall see it and fear and shall trust in the

Why pray
continual? Because we never know at what moment we
will need to claim God's promise. We cannot use God
for a fire escape. He has not promised to rush to
the aid of the lazy, prayerless person; but He has
promised His faithful children,"I will never leave thee
nor forsake thee" (Hebrews
13:5)

Pray Without
Ceasingby E. M. Bounds - Baker Publishing
Company
Praying men mean much more than men who
say prayers; much more than men who pray by habit.
It means men with whom prayer is a mighty force,
an energy that moves heaven, and pours untold
treasures of good on earth. The number and
efficiency of the labourers in God's vineyard in all
lands is dependent on the men of prayer. The
mightiness of these men of prayer increases, by the
divinely arranged process, the number and succes of
the consecrated labors. Prayer opens wide their doors
of access, gives holp aptness to enter, and holy
boldness, firmness and fruitage. Praying men are
needed in all fields of spiritual
labor.

Prayer is the most
important spiritual exercise that a person can have. If
you are to live a happy, yelded and victorious life,
prayer is absolutely essential
daily.
The Bible makes it
clear that you can pray at any time, for God never
sleeps, and His ear is over open to your cry. Pray
harder when it is hardest to pray. Prayer is the key
of the morning and the bolt of the night. One with
God is a majority
