Song Playing is called "Everything I do"
I chose this song for all my Fur Family members
because that is what they do.
Everything they do for us, they do for love
and everything I do for them, I do for love.
Kodiak's Home Page
(The Show Dog)
In Memoriam for Kody
who was killed in 1983.

Here is a picture of Kody
Kodiak (his show name was really Kremarian's
Kodiak) but we just called him Kody was our first German Shepherd that
the kids might remember.
His parents were both show dogs. His mother was the Canadian Champion for
4 years and his father was the German and Austrian Champion for 4 years.
He didn't have a mean bone in his body and he wasn't a great guard dog.
You'll notice that his mask (black on his face) is not completely covered.
He was very different and a funny dog. I couldn't show him because he apparently
had only one testicle (which although he won first prize at 3 months old),
I was told by the judge that if by 6 months the testicle hadn't come down
(apparently they can go up and come down later) then he would be disqualified
from future shows.
It didn't come down and when I informed the breeder,I was told to bring
the dog back and she'd refund my money. When I asked what she would then
do with the dog - she said she'd have him killed because he was useless
as a show dog. She did trace the problem and it apparently was her female
dog that had inherited this. Since she had a female, it never showed up
and she won many awards and many championships. But Kodiak's "Kody"
career as a show dog was over.
So I decided that since I had him for 6 months, I couldn't let him be destroyed,so
I kept him and finished doing dog shows. He became a wonderful family member
and lived until 14 months old, when my ex-brother-in-law left the gate
opened and Kody ran out unto the street. He was hit by a woman who although
stopped did little else to help. Kody had been the mailman's friend and
at the time he was struck, the mailman was delivering. Even he cried when
he saw Kody lying there. We rushed him to the vet's right away and were
told that he had too many injuries. I begged him and offered him more money,
but my ex-husband (who also loved Kody) told me to leave. I thought he
would talk some sense into the vet, but he came out and told me that Kody
had died. I ran in to say goodbye and it was only later that I found out
that the vet had told my ex-husband that Kody was bleeding internally and
could not be saved but that he was suffering so my ex said to put him down.
I was furious at the time, when I found out that he was put down, but I
now realize that if he was suffering and they couldn't fix him, I wouldn't
have wanted him to suffer and die in pain.
So, this wonderful Shepherd never lived a full life but he did have a good
one until his death.
So, to those who love animals, I'm sure you'll understand that although
they are gone, they are never forgotten.
Kody had so many wonderful qualities and I'll add them later. Writing this
is sad for me, so I'll finish here. I decided to update all the furfamily
members' pages when someone wrote to ask me if I had put Kody down because
he could no longer be in shows. No, that never mattered to me.I kept him
and he was just a family member instead of a famous one.
