While creating a site you will hear
many new words that are terms in web designing.
We want you to understand all that we are doing, so we provide this list
of terminology.
To ensure that there will never be a misunderstanding, we will also always
go over all the terminology with you to ensure that we do what you are
looking for.
Some Terminology used :
Web Designing
Graphic Designing
Meta Tags
Trackers
Tables
Java Scripting
Java Applets
Forms
Frames
1) Web Designing
This term is used to describe the web designing service. This service provides
you with a web page or pages.
Each web page is called a document and all your documents are called your
site.
Your site will represent you and your firm to the rest of the world.
If you have been thinking of having a web site prepared for you, you may
have noticed that NOT many web desingers will put fixed prices down. They
usually want you to contact them to discuss pricing. Sometimes there is
a valid reason for that while other times it is a way of undercutting other
designers.
Fluctuating costs for services and the many other things involved in designing
your site such as: forms, java scripting, java applets, etc. All of these
things cost extra because they are usually copyrighted by the creator and
therefore you need to purchase the right to use it on your site.

2) Graphics Designing
This term is used to describe our service of creating graphics. Graphics
are pictures. A graphic can either be your logo or buttons, banners, and
other graphics.
We can either create you a graphic or scan one for you. Whichever you decide,
we'll do.

3) Meta Tags
This term describes a list of coding that is placed at the top of your
document. It is used by the search engines to look for key words or phrases.
Meta Tagging is very important for any site on the web. This is the
way that people will find your business or personal site. Some designers
do not provide this service while others charge more for it.
At Dream Web Designs, we think this is part of doing your site. We do
not charge extra for it. It is inlcuded as a normal service.

4) Trackers
This term describes a coding we will place on your site (if you wish) to
track the number of hits your page is getting. The coding used will be
specific to your site only and therefore will show you how many people
have visited your site. It can be either visible or not visible depending on your requirements. A visual counter shows up so that everyone can see the number of hits your page has had or you can choose invisible so that only you can see the amount of hits
on your site at any time.

5) Tables
This term describes placing coding to create an effect of a table inside
your document. Using tables is quite standard on a web site as it aligns
graphics and text perfectly.

6) Java Scripting
This term describes coding that is placed inside of your document. No one
can see it but it will produce various functions depending on the coding
you use. This could have a scrolling text at the bottom of the taskbar
or a personalized welcome, etc. An example of Java Scripting is used here on our site with the mouse over buttons at the top of each page.

7) Java Applets
This term describes a variety of applets that can be used on your site.
There are graphic applets, text applets, audio applets and lots more. Each
one must have a specific coding and a class file uploaded to your site
for it to work. Again, each creator of an applet charges for commerical
use of their applets so you will have to pay for the cost of that particular
applet.

8) Forms
This term describes a list of coding used to activate forms on your site.
If your site requires people to fill out forms and submit them, then this
is what you would want. Forms can also be used to have interaction with your visitors but asking specific questions and getting your visitors to fill in responses.

9) Frames
This term describes using various html documents so that you can divide
your page into sections. This feature is usually used in two sections.
One is the navigation part (usually on the left hand side) and the rest
of the frame is used for the content.
This feature was popular when it first came out but is not that popular
on the web anymore. It does not allow the visitor to leave and it reduces
the size of the graphics on the other side of the frame. Frames with not
take meta tagging either and therefore will put your site at a large disadvantage for hits.
At Dream Web Designs, we can give your site the look of frames but not
the disadvantages of them. We can design pages that look like a framed page, but with none of the disadvantages.
Our site is one example of how that can work. Frames can either be on top or on the left side of your page.
Here are some samples of using the "Frame look" without their disadvantages.
